I.B. Unit Subway Art

I have a LONG list of things that I want to accomplish this summer (most revolving around a cohesive decor scheme for my classroom)! I have been slowly working my way through the list. (Teaching during the summer sure limits my free-time!) Any-hoo, today I completed my I.B. unit preview posters. There is nothing better than teaching and creating I.B.(International Baccalaureate) units! I feel blessed to have the opportunity to guide young children through this inquiry model. If you don't know what I.B. is, CLICK HERE and check it out! The posters will be hung in my classroom so that students can see what we will be up to throughout the school year. I have also had them printed onto postcards. My plan is to send the postcards out a few weeks before the unit will begin. The postcards will contain a synopsis of the unit, important dates, and touch points for family conversation. Also, students will not know which unit is next until they receive their postcard at home! In my mind, it is a great idea, but you never know! I will update you after the first batch of postcards go out!

Here are a few of the posters:

The posters contain the transdisciplinary theme, the central idea, key words & phrases, and names of unit activities. Another SWEET fact is that they match my decor! Yeah me!!

I have LOTS of posting to do, so check back again soon.

Hugs, peace, and chicken grease,
Shelly

  2. What software do you use to create your posters? I love them!

  3. I made them using Photoshop, but you could easily make them using GIMP (free shareware "Photoshop-like" program, or even Powerpoint or Keynote. I just make a list of the key unit words and place them and size them until they look right to me. I prefer this over the on-line word cloud programs because it gives me more flexibility. Let me know if you need any assistance. I would be happy to walk you through it!
    Bug hugs,
